The artworks in this exhibition were created by Mental Health Service User Artists facilitated by participatory artist Jo Sheppard at the ArtSpace group based at The Attenborough Arts Centre in Leicester.
The ‘Children of the Asylum’ project was inspired by the work of Dr Stephen Taylor at The University of Leicester and explored the experiences of children placed in mental health asylums in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
The project was led by BrightSparks: Arts in Mental Health Group, in partnership with Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, The University of Leicester and The Attenborough Arts Centre.
Now on display, from Thursday 26th November 2020 at;
