This means that we've been shortlisted from over 700 projects in our category (arts, culture and film) and we're the only project in the East Midlands through to the final in our category.

The Comedy Asylum saves lives. We're not joking - participants tell us that the programme is a life line for them. We enable people with severe and enduring mental illnesses to get out of the house, meet friends in a safe environment and work with professional artists to create and perform comedy as part of Leicester Comedy Festival. Our team also runs workshops on psychiatric wards across the region, supporting patients as they move towards recovery.
Without grant support the Comedy Asylum wouldn't exist, and this prize would enable us to run for another 12 months, engaging with many more participants.
